September 17, when I was planning to fly to Nagasaki, my hometown on my summer vacation, The Typhoon Shanshan was just comming there ....
When I arrived at the Haneda Airport by the limousine bus, I checked the flight information. Oh my goodness! All the flights after the one I took had been cancelled ... I was so unlucky. I could change the flight to the other day, but if I do it I had to shorten the stay in Nagasaki. So I decided to go there by the bullet train. This was the wrong decision, though. The bullet train I took stopped at Hiroshima because of the typhoon. And all the hotel were full in Hiroshima. I didn't want to stay all night in the bullet train, so I went back to Okayama to stay at a hotel. It was raining hard and the wind was blowing heavily. I called my mother and heard that the light went out at my parents' house and my aunt's house. Next morning, the weather became fine with heavy wind. I went to the train station after breakfast. I went to Hakata by the bullet train, then went to Nagasaki by the express bus. I finally arrived at my aunt's house around 6 p.m. The light came back, but I saw the electric wire was cut and lying on the ground by the falling wood. I heard there was a tornado in Miyazaki prefecture. The Typhoon Shanshan was the biggest typhoon in Nagasaki in last 10 years. It landed on Nagasaki, there was a blackout in many places, and the planes and trains stopped.
The longest 2 days for me ... finally finished. I spent 2 days to go from my house to Nagasaki. If I had changed the flight on the next day, it would have been much easier. I didn't have to spend such much money and time. I was just unlucky.
